It’s seems as though I was a little prescient in my post back in December on the Billabong XXL awards where I showed a clip of Damon Eastough surfing some large waves in Western Australia. Except it was for the wrong awards! Damon as just won the Oakley / ASL Big Wave Awards for his humungous wave ridden at xBox.

The winning wave was judged to be between 48 and 52 feet. The award for biggest paddle in went to a Kiwi Daniel Kereopa for his ride at Papatowai in New Zealand’s deep south.
