Save Catherine Hill Bay
I was up at Catho’s on the weekend and pratically every house in the town had banners plastered all over them commenting on the proposed development at Catherine Hill Bay.
For those that don’t know here’s a few short facts about Catho:
- It’s about 100km north of Sydney
- It’s a former coal mining town
- there are some pristine beaches
- It’s quite a small community consisting of about 100 houses in two groups
There is currently a development proposal being considered is for:
- about 600 houses and 150 tourist beds at the southern end of Catherine Hill Bay protruding onto the headland and into the heritage village
- about 300 houses at the northern end of the bay.
Current situation:
- In March the SMH ran this article
- Podcast of Sartor talking with Ray Hadley on 2GB - the Developers Rosecorp are having to go back and redraw their plans as the proposed development was slammed. The relevant discussion with Frank Sartor is about 40% into the podcast.
I’d say that’s not what the locals are wanting, but its a step in the right direction. Catho is a great area and no need for it to be ruined by overdevelopment.
